POEMI, one of the four Romanian ceramic brands recommended by lovedeco

In November 2023, the design platform lovedeco.ro, through Alina Iliceanu, published an article dedicated to Romanian ceramics brands worth following. POEMI appears alongside three other studios—De Ceramica, Decartis, and Sandra Berghianu Ceramics—in an article intended to encourage support for local production.

Regarding the beginnings of our brand, the article notes:

„Florin and Alexandra Popescu, the founders of the brand, started this adventure without any prior experience,” writes lovedeco, in the context of the story of how the workshop grew from home production to a space of nearly 500 square meters.

Being mentioned alongside other Romanian ceramic studios in an article specifically designed to encourage buying from local producers confirms exactly what we set out to do from the beginning: to show that handcrafted ceramics, in Romania, can stand alongside any other design landmark, Romanian or international.

Each of the four brands mentioned in the article has its own aesthetic, ranging from minimalist geometric shapes to nature-inspired motifs or Scandinavian influences. POEMI is recognized in the article for the journey undertaken without formal training in the field, a route built exclusively through trial, documentation, and a lot of workshop work.

We are glad to be included in such lists, because they help with something important for the entire industry: to show that in Romania there is a real community of ceramic producers, each with their own identity, who are worth discovering before choosing an imported object.

The lovedeco article is part of a type of design journalism that is becoming increasingly present in the Romanian press: guides that do not just compare prices, but stories and work processes. For a workshop that works by hand, without mass production, this is the best form of recognition, because it speaks precisely about what it means to choose the right material and the time needed to make a piece well, not about speed or volume.
