The Origen POEMI Collection, Winner of the BigSEE Product Design Award

Masa Tacerii [Origin] Terrazzo Ceramic Stoneware | POEMI

Origen Collection received the BIG SEE Product Design Award in the Home and Living category, one of the most important product design awards in Central and Southeastern Europe, organized by the BigSEE platform. The collection is made of terrazzo-type ceramic tiles, entirely handcrafted, and was inspired by the works of sculptor Constantin Brâncuși and traditional objects from the founders' childhood.

About the collection, BigSEE writes:

„Each piece is more than a visual delight, it offers a tactile experience,” notes the platform, emphasizing that each object is designed to be touched, not just looked at.

Another fragment places the collection in a broader cultural context:

„Inspired by the visionary works of Constantin Brancusi, it bridges heritage with contemporary design,” the article states.

For the workshop in Sibiu, an international award for a collection built around Romanian cultural heritage, from Brâncuși to simple objects from traditional households, confirms that this design direction holds value beyond the local market. Each piece in Origen functions both as a decorative object and as tableware, water-resistant and dishwasher-safe, designed for spaces that combine aesthetics and functionality.

The BigSEE Award adds to the recognition received by the Origen collection from Tableware International Awards of Excellence, confirming that a handmade collection, crafted in a micro-factory in Sibiu, can compete internationally, both before a jury specialized in product design and one specialized in tableware.

BigSEE annually brings together architecture, interior design, and product design projects from across the Central and Southeastern European region, and the Home and Living category is one of the most competitive, with dozens of entries from established studios and workshops. Winning this category with a collection conceived and entirely crafted in Sibiu, from the initial sketch to the finished piece, confirms that our approach—sculptural forms inspired by Romanian cultural heritage—holds value beyond the country's borders.
