Products POEM are made by hand using the technique „raise hand”, without using a potter's wheel or casting molds.
We only use resistant and durable ceramic masses that are fired at High temperatures, thus becoming impermeable even without glaze.
The glazes are eco-friendly, lead-free, and safe for household use. We have also internally developed a series of organic glazes with wood ash content, in earthy colors, with a raw, natural look. You'll find them all in Earth Collection.
All POEMI products can be washed in Dishwasher. They can also be used in the microwave, except for those decorated with colloidal gold or copper luster.
Within the Earth collection for the oven, you will find products that can be used for cooking in the oven. Handle them with care when removing them from the oven, as the ceramic retains heat for a longer period.
How are POEMI products made?
The production process spans a period of 3 weeks if you need a fine pay attention and care.
Ceramic clay (which resembles playdough) is stretched into thin strips, cut, and shaped to achieve the desired final form. For some objects, such as mugs, the process involves several steps where multiple strips of ceramic clay are joined together to create the finished product.
After modeling, the objects are left to dry until the moisture content is low enough to be fired in the kiln.
Next pre-firing (biscuiting), in special electric furnaces, at temperatures ranging from 950 to 1,000 degrees Celsius. A firing cycle lasts approximately 48 hours.
Then, the objects are glazed. The glaze is liquid and is applied either by spraying, brushing, or dipping the object into the glaze.
Glazed pieces will go in baked twice, temperatures between 1,200 and 1,280 degrees Celsius. This results in a glossy or matte enamel finish.
O the third burning approximately 800 degrees Celsius is necessary when parts are decorated with colloidal gold or copper luster.
