In June 2020, interior design blogger Natalia Berezovskaia published an in-depth profile of the POEMI studio, titled \u201eFrom an Idea to a Small-Scale Artisanal Ceramics and Porcelain Workshop.\u201d The article traces the brand\u2019s beginnings: an electric kiln and a dining room table, at home Alexandru and Florin Popescu's<\/a>, in 2016, with no prior experience in ceramics.<\/p>\n\n

At the time of the article, the workshop had already grown to a space of 400 square meters, with 8 kilns and a team of 4 people. Regarding the philosophy behind the products, Alexandra said:<\/p>\n\n

\u201eWe want products with a clean design, finished with great care and attention,\u201d the article states, in the context of the decision to launch 10 new collections that year.<\/p>\n\n

The article describes the studio as being built around a Scandinavian aesthetic, with an emphasis on simplicity and comfort (hygge), using 14 types of ceramic bodies and lead-free, eco-friendly glazes. For us, this profile captures precisely the moment of transition from a small studio, on the borderline between hobby and business, toward a micro-factory with its own processes and a clear identity.<\/p>\n\n

Read now, a few years later, the article works almost like a stage snapshot: many of the collections<\/a> while the processes described have evolved since then, the principles remain the same. Clean design, attention to every single piece, and step-by-step growth, not in a rush.<\/p>\n\n

We would like to thank Natalia Berezovskaia for the interest she has shown since the brand\u2019s inception, at a time when POEMI was, truly, just an idea brought to life in a house in Sibiu.<\/p>\n\n

The article\u2019s title, \u201efrom an idea to an artisanal micro-factory,\u201d captures well how the workshop has evolved from then until now: not through a sudden leap, but through accumulation, kiln after kiln, collection after collection. It is precisely the kind of growth we wanted from the beginning: organic, based on experience gained directly at the wheel and the kiln, rather than on decisions made quickly, without testing and without patience.<\/p>\n\n
